We Know What Show You Should Watch Next Based On Your “Game Of Thrones” Character Preference
Tyrion’s a guy who likes to think a lot. So how about a show that makes you think a lot? Westworld is sure to entertain and intrigue you in equal measure. And most importantly it will fill that Game of Thrones void in your life… for a bit!
If it’s excitement, a good story and a lot of the same feels that you’re after, then The Last Kingdom is the one for you… just a little less fantasy. But it will certainly help while you wait for season 8.
Cersei may be playing queen in Game of Thrones at the moment, but The White Queen is equally nail biting. It’s got all the violence, politics, sex, and scandal that Game of Thrones has, AND rumour has it George R.R. Martin even loosely based some of the events of Game of Thrones on the War of the Roses, which The White Queen depicts. So there you go…
Jon Snow may not be in it, but there’s plenty of other characters to become obsessed with. And while it’s not quite Game of Thrones, it does have some of the same themes, such as plenty of action, drama, violence, humour, and romance. It’s pretty underrated, give it a go during this long winter ahead.
Missing Richard Madden’s lovely face still? Well you can get another dose of Robb Stark in this show: Medici: Masters of Florence. He stars alongside Dustin Hoffman and you even get an injection of Ned Stark (Sean Bean) too. It’s all about family drama and power struggles, and it might just be the tonic you need to kill time until the next season of Game of Thrones.
Margaery Tyrell may be out of Game of Thrones now, but you can get another epic performance from the woman who played her, Natalie Dormer, in The Tudors. She plays Anne Boleyn in the Henry VIII drama alongside stellar actors such as Jonathan Rhys Meyers and a pre-Superman Henry Cavill. Watch it, you may just like it…
The 100 ~kind of~ starts off as a teenager show but goes dark pretty fast, so no wonder you got this from picking Arya. There’s drama, violence, Game of Thrones-style world building, strong female leaders and it can be unpredictable. Right up your street.
If you enjoy the fantastical side of Game of Thrones then we’re pretty sure you’re going to love Penny Dreadful. Drama, horror, suspense, some crazy ass scenes and plenty of monsters while all in a period piece setting. It’s also got a great cast – Eva Green, Timothy Dalton, Josh Hartnett, etc.
It won’t replace Game of Thrones, but it will certainly help keep you occupied for a while. There’s a load of parallels to your favourite show, and it’s quite easy to binge-watch too. Enjoy!
While you wait to see Jaime back on your screens to see what the hell he’s going to do next, get to grips with Mr Robot. It’s got a great storyline with complex characters and plot twists. Plus there’s only two seasons to watch so far and if you start watching it soon you’ll be ready for when season three airs next month. Who says you can’t get by minus GoT?
Sansa’s had her fair share of great storylines on the show so far. And Sense8 is full of amazing plots, too. You’ll love the characters as well, so there may just be enough to get you through the mourning.
Drogon… good choice. Merlin will give you the fantasy fix you’ll be missing, plus a load of Game of Thrones actors cameo on the show so you’ll get some happy reminders along the way (Gendry, Tywin, Samwell, Davos…)
Tormund… what has happened to Tormund?! He better be safe! But while you fret over his fate, we recommend you fill your time with Outlander. He may be no Tormund Giantsbane, but we’re pretty sure you’ll find Jamie Fraser fulfilling enough. Plus not to mention the gripping story, sex scenes and gorgeous scenery.
You’re just going to have to take our word for it. Fill the void in your life with Preacher and the time will hopefully go a bit faster. Plus you’ll be entertained along the way.
There’s no guessing what links this show to Bronn…. It’s a historical drama focusing on sex workers in the 1760s. It’s perfect for a binge session while you take your mind off Game of Thrones and there’s many great costumes to drool over if that’s your thing.
Oh, Olenna. She went out in a blaze of glory so there’s no wonder you’re missing her face and sass. The good news is you get to see Diana Rigg again in Victoria. But that’s not the only draw about the show. Doctor Who‘s Jenna Coleman takes the lead in this historical drama and we’re sure you’ll be entertained.
As a Game of Thrones fan you’re bound to love this show – it’s got the violence, sex, and intrigue, and most importantly Dickon Tarly (Tom Hooper) stars. Add it to your to-watch list immediately.
Khal Drogo may be long gone from Game of Thrones but we’re still not over it tbh. So why don’t you get over Game of Thrones being missing from your life by getting to see Jason Momoa’s glorious face again? He stars in Frontier as outlaw Declan Harp. And while there’s no Dothraki, it does tell the story of his campaign to breach the Hudson’s Bay Company’s monopoly on the fur trade in Canada. Enjoy.
You see what we did there? The Walking Dead is full of gripping stuff and a brilliant cast. Plus there’s quite a few seasons to get through now so that will certainly keep you occupied while you wait patiently for Game of Thrones Season 8.
There’s nothing like a historical-fiction drama to occupy you while you get over Game of Thrones being missing from your life. The Borgias promises to entertain you with its drama, power struggles and the rise of an ambitious family. There’s also some incest thrown in if you were missing that particular kind of GoT storyline.
